CARE OF THE LAND, CARE OF THE WILDLIFE, CARE OF THE PEOPLE

Committed to providing world-class experiences for discerning travellers, &Beyond is Africa’s leading responsible luxury adventure tourism company. We create intimate moments in breathtaking locations to be shared and celebrated with family and friends. Unforgettable memories are made here - a hot air balloon safari over the Masai Mara at dawn, a dive on the colourful coral reefs off Mnemba Island in the warm Indian Ocean, whitewater rafting down the mighty Zambezi River at Matetsi, gazing upon a dense starry sky in the Namib Desert or following the wildebeest migration across the endless plains of the Serengeti.

Our roots are in Africa, where we run nearly 50 magical safari lodges and camps in the most breathtaking parts of the continent and, through this, sustain hundreds of rural communities and millions of acres of precious, sometimes endangered wildlife land. By embarking on an adventure with us, our guests also become part of our dream to integrate international travellers and rural people to their mutual benefit and to demonstrate that wildlife can be conserved on a sustainable basis by all. We believe that our heritage of wild land and animals should be recognised as one of our most precious natural resources.

Our passionate belief in the Care of the Life, Care of the Wildlife and Care of the People is evident in everything that we do. Each day nearly 3 000 &Beyonders delight our guests and, as a result of this, we are able to make many small but meaningful differences to our planet.

&Beyond also offers a full range of travel services. We design journeys for our guests to over 1 200 hand-picked luxury and adventure travel destinations, hotels and resorts in Africa and India.

A journey with &Beyond promises to thrill you by day and spoil you by night. With &Beyond you will fall in love with the world again, just as it should be, and will return with unforgettable stories.

CURRENT SUSTAINABILITY PROJECTS

Interaction and logistical support of TANAPA
Les Carlisle, Group Conservation Manager at &Beyond, participated in the creation of the new Serengeti National Park management plan, which reviewed tourism zones within the park, among other things. Rangers at Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp report all observed transgressions and poaching incidents to TANAPA staff. Grumeti has proposed the control of the invasive Water Lettuce, which infests the Grumeti and Kanyanja Rivers.
Monitoring of birds of prey and other wildlife
Grumeti rangers are engaged in long-term monitoring projects of eagles and vultures, as well as the troops of Black-and-White Colobus monkeys which live in the riverine forest along the Grumeti River. Resident Lion prides have been studied by Grumeti guides. Data and observations are published in the &Beyond's 'Ecological Journal' and 'WildWatch' annual which are presented to the Serengeti Research Institute at Seronera.
Positive Health
Working closely with the Africa Foundation, Grumeti works with lodge staff and communities in nearby Bunda to follow a Wellness programme geared towards developing and maintaining a healthy immune system. Diet, natural vitamins and minerals, and the cultivation of a positive attitude are among the key factors in fighting chronic illness including HIV/Aids.
